Edible Hearts

This week I have been looking for heart shapes everywhere and when I came across this (whilst washing the lettuce for tea!) I just could'nt believe it. A great example of serendipity, when you least expect it. I photographed the potato heart last year oblivious to the fact that maybe it would one day come in useful.
Both the items came to a tragic end as I ATE them, still, they live on for all to see on my blog. More serious posts and "patterns" next week... I hope.

P.S. I have changed my header, I'm not sure how long it will last... but the old one was a bit old and stale.

Hearts in my garden

Yesterday I spent some time with my camera looking for hearts in my garden. I was amazed at how many I found! Here are some of them. Enjoy.

Just for fun...

Today was my first day of "The Art and Business of Surface Pattern" e-course which I am doing on-line.
There were lots of interesting and useful things to read today. Just for fun... we were asked to experiment with stripes and dots. So my stock of old magazines came into use. I will not be blogging about this course everyday but today I could'nt resist it as I enjoyed myself so much.
You can see my stripes and dots on Flickr too!

I have been having a few days holiday in rainy old England, no blogging, no Spoonflower  and no serious work as such. Although I have had a wonderful rest the weather has not been good and all my plans to take lots of photographs have been abandoned.

In preparation for next week when I will be starting my "The Art of Surface Pattern" e-course, I have taken advantage of the extra time on my hands and "cleaned out" my computer. I know that is not really the right phrase to use but it does feel like that, chucking out things you don't need anymore and organising all the rest! I would like to organise my blog a bit more, I think a new header could be on the cards and maybe to add a "Surface pattern e-course" banner, but I don't really know where to start.

I bought some new ink pens yesterday and have been trying them out and doodling (see image above) in my sketchbook. I just love using them when they are new, I went back to the shop and bought some more today to take back to Italy with me.

Happy Easter

Easter is a holiday that I quite enjoy... I think it has something to do with all the chocolate that is about!

Anyway, wishing you all a very HAPPY EASTER and a special welcome to my two new members Majo and Mike. xx

My Bookshelf

I had the bright idea to create a design yesterday afternoon for the Spoonflower contest with the theme "Books". I was very short for time (the deadline was midnight yesterday) but I really wanted to take part in a competition again... am I addicted?
Well this is the result, the idea was quite an obvious one as I have already noticed lots of entries which have more or less the same theme of a Bookshelf. My colour palette was one of my most "unthought out ones" but I do like the repeat.
The repeat and two details here on Flickr, or you can see the original on Spoonflower.
